EARLY PRENATAL THERAPY FOR DOWN SYNDROME

Research Areas / Early Prenatal Therapy for Down Syndrome

Down syndrome, also known as Trisomy 21, is a genetic disease caused by an extra chromosome in pair 21. The effects of this additional chromosome cause several disorders that go from changes in the physical characteristics of affected patients, neurologic impairment, intellectual disability and cardiovascular disorders among others.

At MELISA Institute, we are researching novel noninvasive therapies that will allow to improve in utero the anomalies that this additional chromosome produces.
