According to the latest study by Endeavor, the Biobío Region contributes approximately 7% of the country's total GDP, positioning itself as one of Chile's most productive and industrially significant areas, particularly highlighting the development of the forestry industry and its capacity to drive innovation and regional growth.
In this context, Bioforest, ARAUCO's R&D center, carries out important work focused on research, innovation, and sustainable forest protection, promoting technological and scientific solutions aimed at the care of forest resources and the sustainable development of the sector.
Within this framework, part of the MELISA Institute team visited Bioforest, ARAUCO's R&D center, strengthening ties with various industry stakeholders to generate new opportunities for collaboration and applied research.
Eloisa Koch, General Manager, and Mauricio Hernández, CLO, along with Felipe Castro, Pablo Saldivia, and Estefanía Contreras, researchers from our scientific staff, participated in the meeting. They were welcomed by representatives from the Bioforest team: Jenny Lineros, Head of Production and R&D Laboratory; Sergio Reyes, Operational Production Manager; and Carlos Cofré, researcher.

The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss potential future collaborations and joint initiatives, highlighting the mutual interest in strengthening the ties between both institutions and promoting collaborative work between science and industry in the Biobío Region.
Finally, the MELISA team toured Bioforest's facilities and laboratories, where they learned firsthand about its processes, lines of work, and technological capabilities.
We continue to foster strategic alliances that promote research, scientific development, and innovation in the Biobío Region!
